5 tips for keeping your office space clean!
As a clean freak working in an office can be a nightmare. Even with a recurring cleaning company, certain cleaning tasks may not be getting the attention it deserves.
Here at Sunny Spot, we have listened to our costumers and have set a standard for cleanliness in the office. To keep your office comfortable here are 5 cleaning tips to keep germs, dust, and dirt away!
1. Sanitize your keyboard/phones:
Sorry to break this to all you clean freaks, but researchers at the University of Arizona found that the average desktop has 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat! Yuck..
Cleaning companies are contracted to carry out a set of basic cleaning tasks, which may not include disinfecting your keyboard. These simple tasks should not be overlooked by you or your cleaning company. Keyboards and telephones carry a high level of germs and nasty bacteria.
Ask your cleaning company if they are sanitizing your desktop. If not, we recommend a thorough wipe down at least once a week!
2. Vacuum tops of books, folders and files:
No matter how organized you are with your books, folder and/or files dust will find a way to collect. A recurring hoovering of the tops of these will prevent this build up. Regularly check these hard to reach areas!
3. Fridge cleaning:
In an office with many employees the fridge will have leftovers in it. Being that we are human, we tend to forget about leftovers, leaving them to stink up the fridge. When food turns bad it creates a bad smell and will pose a hygiene threat.
We know that a shared kitchen is everybody’s responsibility, but in a work environment it’s easy to overlook it. Most cleaning companies may not do clean it out without being asked. Here, at Sunny Spot, we do a weekly clean and emptying of unwanted food at the end of each week! We highly recommend you do the same!
4. Wipe plant leaves:
This may seem a bit weird to some, but in an office with either real or artificial plants it is a task commonly overlooked. We have found these plants will build-up dust on the leaves. Just give it a gentle wipe down with a damp cloth once a week, this will prevent them getting dusty. If they are real, it’ll help keep the air cleaner also!
5. Arrange deep clean:
When you have a contract cleaner, they carry out a standard cleaning of the office when they come in. We recommend you schedule the occasional deep clean, this would include carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and hard floor deep cleaning.
